Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or HCM can be a debilitating and life-changing cardiovascular
disease that reduces physical function and overall well-being. HCM affects between 1 in 200
and 1 in 500 people in the general population, yet many people don’t know they have it.

welcome to hcm awareness day!

The HCMA was founded in 1996 to promote education and understanding of HCM.  Over 15,000 people have called the HCMA and heard "We've got you" as they begin their journey into understanding the diagnosis of HCM as a patient, a caregiver, or a referring physician.

Renowned cardiologist, Dr. Barry J. Maron has just published two clinically oriented papers in American College of Cardiology JACC Journals  that will be helpful in guiding the management & diagnosis of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Could it be hcm?

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or HCM, can be a serious heart condition, yet most people with HCM don’t even know they have it. Unexplained symptoms can be signs of many conditions, and only your doctor can determine whether your symptoms indicate HCM or another condition
