he Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association (HCMA) would like to extend an invitation for you and a guest to join us for a free viewing of the movie, “A Man Called Otto” on Thursday, February 2nd at 6:00 PM EST.  While it is not the primary focus of the movie, the main character, Otto, just happens to have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM).  The HCMA has been strongly advocating for the HCM patient community for over 25 years and we feel that Tom Hanks, and the movie directors, did an outstanding job depicting the life of an HCM patient.
HCM is a genetic heart disease that affects between 1 in 200 and 1 in 500 people in the general population, yet many people (as much as 85%) don’t know they have it. If left undiagnosed and without treatment, HCM can potentially result in tragedy.
This event would be an opportunity to educate the audience about HCM and share live feedback from patients after the movie concludes; that will highlight how the movie resonates with them and the impact HCM has on their lives. We will also use this opportunity to share our current legislative initiatives, services, and successes!

Space is limited; please only register if you are able to attend. If you have any questions, please call us at 973-983-7429
