MAZE

Overview: Maze is a surgical procedure to treat atrial fibrillation.

Maze is a surgical ablation procedure used to treat atrial fibrillation (afib). As with catheter ablations for arrhythmias, Maze involves creating scar tissue with the aim of blocking electrical signals that cause afib. It is more often successful in treating afib than catheter ablations, but because it is open-heart surgery it involves more risk.

You may see it written as maze, Maze, or MAZE. They all refer to the same thing. The capital letters don't change the meaning!
