I lived the majority of my life so far not knowing I had HCM at all. I just thought I was not fit, or something was wrong with my physical efforts. Turns out there was a reason for that. In 2022 I was diagnosed with obstructive HCM via my primary physician who recommended I get an echo and see a specialist. It turns out there was a family history, but I was not aware of it. In late 2022 I had a septal myectomy at one of the HCM centers for excellence. I have found the HCMA to be invaluable for navigating my condition.
I am currently navigating my post-surgical outcomes while being a father of five and trying to spread awareness about HCM and genetic heart diseases within the eCommerce community.
